Six airbags
The main purpose of airbags (with the help of the safety belts) is to prevent or minimise the risk of harm to the driver and passengers from contact with any rigid parts of the car. The Rapid Spaceback has six airbags as standard including, Front, Head and Side airbags, providing optimum protection for passengers.
Rear View Camera*
This feature is included in the optional Image Pack and uses a mini camera positioned in the tailgate. When reverse gear is engaged, the camera is automatically activated and the image is shown on the infotainment system display. Dynamic guide lines laid over the image show the direction in which the vehicle would go with the current position of the steering wheel or indicate when it should be turned.
*Safety technologies are not a substitute for the driver's responsibility of the vehicle.
Multi-collision Brake
The Multi-collision Brake feature has been designed to provide effective assistance for the driver in the moments after an accident. Multi-collision Brake trigger automatic controlled braking once an initial collision has been detected so as to reduce the intensity of further accidents after a collision and can help prevent follow-on collisions with oncoming traffic.
Electronic Differential Lock (EDL)
When on a road with different surfaces on each side, for example dry tarmac on one side and loose gravel or dirt on the other, the EDL, standard on all models, will engage for increased safety. This system works together with ABS sensors to detect if a wheel is slipping. In such an event the brake pressure on the non-slipping wheel is matched; and more torque is applied to the wheel with better traction, enabling the transfer of more power.
Antilock Brake System (ABS)
The objective of the ABS is to keep the car under control even during abrupt braking. The ŠKODA ABS keeps the wheels rolling by reducing the braking force on individual wheels, this enables the driver to avoid the obstacle.
Safe body design
High quality, rigid body structure is the essence of safety in all types of crashes. To achieve high durability of the monocoque, extremely strong materials were used, especially around the passenger area, where only minimal deformations are allowed.
The engine mounts are designed to prevent intrusion of the engine in the passenger area upon even heavier impacts. Other parts of the interior are also designed in a way to protect the driver and passengers in the case of an accident.
