That is why ŠKODA cars are equipped with a wide range of active and passive safety elements that simplify your work as the driver and helping you to avoid or resolve high-risk situations. The most basic active safety element in any ŠKODA vehicle is its exceptional handling. The modern chassis construction offers you stability and manoeuvrability, helping you keep control of your vehicle under all conditions.

Electronic systems

In a ŠKODA, you have a whole range of active safety features and electronic systems to help you handle almost any situation safely. While ABS helps you to keep control of the car when braking suddenly, ESC helps you to manage skids and EDS helps you to take advantage of all available traction on a slippery surface. There are also braking assistants and tyre pressure monitors.

City Safe Drive

A moment of distraction can take its toll even in perfect visibility, especially in city traffic. The answer to this is the City Emergency Brake System. When you’re travelling at speeds of up to 30 km/h, it monitors the area in front of your car using a radar sensor and activates the emergency brakes if you fail to respond to an approaching obstacle in time.

Structure and safety

Sometimes even all the active safety elements in a ŠKODA vehicle cannot help you to avoid an accident. That’s when a range of passive safety elements will come to your aid. Their purpose is to muffle or redirect the impact and minimise the risk of injury in the cabin. The most important element is the structure itself, which has computer designed crumple zones.

Safety Certificates

Every ŠKODA model passes the independent ANCAP safety tests. All our vehicles achieve the maximum possible 5 stars, except the Fabia which achieves 4 stars, in the new, more demanding assessment of the ANCAP safety test. In addition to protecting adult passengers, the degree of protection for children inside the car and pedestrians was important in the overall assessment.
