What is our Ombudsman system?

The Volkswagen Group ombudsman system creates a secure environment within which employees and business partners can help fight corruption. Corruption is not a trivial offense: on the contrary, it harms the company and its employees. That is why uncovering corruption is so important. The ombudsman system and the Guideline Anti-Corruption, among others, support this process. In regard to corruption, the Guideline aims to raise the awareness of each employee and sensitise them for the scope of the topic.

Two highly-respected lawyers act as independent ombudsmen (the term derives from the Swedish word for "commissioner" or "representative"). Any employee, business partner or third party who suspects corrupt practices can send their complaint to the ombudsmen. All information is treated in the strictest confidence and the identity of anyone disclosing information is kept strictly anonymous, the ombudsmen is bound by the oath of professional secrecy. Of course, the person who submits information does not have to fear any sanctions from the company.
